Commenting on reports in the Sunday Herald that public sector bodies have paid out thousands of pounds on celebrity appearances and motivational speakers, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP said:
"People who have lost their jobs at these organisations will wonder why so much public money has been wasted on celebrity appearances and motivational speakers.
"It's clear that savings can be made throughout the public sector without harming frontline services. Cutting back on this kind of frippery is one way that services can make efficiency savings in these tough times without compromising the services that people depend on."
